    • Relay all technical questions regarding managed aircraft to operations and maintenance departments.
    • Review and approve all invoices related to accounts.
    • Conducts monthly P&L review on all applicable accounts.
    • Conducts weekly review and resolution of AR.
    • Review monthly expenses for maintenance, cleaning, and supplies as they pertain to specific managed aircraft.
    • Assist with Crew Chief and pilot hiring, evaluations and coaching to assure proper pilot coverage and ensure the aircraft is maintained with exceptional care.
    • Assist with pilot administration including but not limited to schedules, PTB approval, and expense approval.
    • Ensure that the interior and exterior of the aircraft are kept clean according to standards as set forth by the Company.
    • Performs other duties and assignments, as required.

    QualificationsQualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree AND/OR a minimum of 5 years of aviation experience; including 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience.

    • Requires P&L and budget experience.
    • Must be able to work flexible and non-standard hours.
    • Must be available for travel as necessary.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Excellent communication skills.

    The Director of Aviation Operations reports to the Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. This role is a flying position that also leads a team of pilots, maintenance mechanic, flight scheduler and support staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages all facets of Aviation Operations including flight operations, aircraft maintenance, finances, purchasing (capital projects), hiring, and hangar administration
    • Ensures safe and efficient flight operations
    • Ensures compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, international regulations, OEM operating procedures, NTSB reporting requirements, company SOPs, industry best practices, and other industry/company initiatives, as applicable (e.g,. IS-BAO, etc.)
    • Responsible for the professional standards of the crewmembers

    • Ensures compliance with all national and local environmental laws and requirements

    • Evaluates outside contract agencies (Fixed Base Operators, maintenance facilities, etc.) to ensure they have adequate facilities, personnel, and experience to perform the required service functions Manages contracts with outside service providers, including but not limited to training, scheduling, maintenance, charter operators and software/EFBs
    • Evaluates charter operators for certification as approved providers. Will maintain list of approved charter providers, and will audit operators as needed
    • Administers performance evaluations of direct reports
    • Serves as a company representative with respect to other corporations and to the local and state aviation community
    • Develops and implements the Safety Management System. Will monitor ongoing SMS for effectiveness in daily operations
    • Develops and maintains the Flight Operations Manual
    • Participates in the distribution, review, and response of accident, incident, and other occurrence reports in collaboration with the Safety Captain
    • Maintains a current operations library and distributes new information as appropriate. Seeks to remain informed on the latest developments within the business aviation community, including best practices, standards, regulatory developments, operational mandates, and training initiatives

    Qualifications

    • Holds a valid Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
    • Holds a type rating and maintains currency for up to two (2) of the types of aircraft operated, if applicable
    • Possesses a First-Class FAA Medical Certificate
    • Possesses knowledge with respect to the operation of the Aviation Operations, the content of the Flight Operations Manual, the provision of Title 14 of the CFRs, and the standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities to ensure safety

    Position Summary

    Marathon Petroleum Company is seeking a full time Chief Pilot in the Aviation Department located in San Antonio, Texas.

    Key Responsibilities of the Chief Pilot

    • Responsible for supervision of San Antonio based aircraft pilot group.
    • Coordinates with aircraft schedulers in planning efficient flight and crew assignment schedules for Marathon’s San Antonio based aircraft.

    • Coordinates with Maintenance Foreman to assure hangar facilities are properly maintained and provide a safe and secure working and business environment.
    • Act as Pilot-in-Command on operational assignments.
    • Ensure that flight operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
    • Actively participates in the Company safety management system by:
      • Actively identifying, reporting and mitigating hazards and safety-risk management deficiencies
      • Addressing safety-risk management deficiencies in an appropriate and timely manner.

    Education And Experience

    Job Description

    The Director of Operations is responsible to report to the VP of Charter in growing a department that supports the safe and efficient execution of flight operations consistent with Silverhawk Aviation’s long-term vision. The position will support management and supervisory staff to develop operational solutions and act as a point of contact with the charter department and outside regulatory groups. Key responsibilities include performing and delivering various flight operations functions and programs including but not limited to: aircraft performance, record keeping, FAA relations, operational control, and talent acquisition.

    Other primary responsibilities include:

    • Ensure legal, safe, and efficient training and scheduling operations.
    • Update and enforce company policies and compliance with all FAA/DOT/TSA laws, rules, and regulations overseeing the flight activities.
    • Perform crewmember duties when qualified in the aircraft.
    • Final approval of all flight operations personnel.
    • Ensure all record keeping requirements and the proper monitoring and removal of those records.
    • Responsible, in conjunction with the Director of Maintenance and pilot-in-command, to ensure that the maintenance and inspection status of aircraft is current.
    • These duties may be delegated but the Director of Operations is still ultimately responsible.

    Qualifications

    • Must hold an airline transport certificate.
    • Either had three years of management experience at a part 121 or 135 company in the past six years; or
    • Has had at least three years of pilot-in-command experience at a part 121 or 135 company in the past six years.
    • Experience with any of the following aircraft preferred: King Air 90, Citation 500 series, Citation 560XL series, or Citation 680 series.
