    Reports to the Director of Operations for National Jets, the Chief Pilot is responsible for managing all activities pertaining to the company’s pilots. This includes recruiting, initial and recurrent training, aircraft currency/proficiency, and aircraft operating standards. Responsibilities also include career path management for the pilot workforce and training to ensure operating requirements are met. This person will prioritize and distribute additional duties and projects, as necessary, to the pilot team.

    Education and Experience
    • ATP with a total of 3000 hours.
    • Minimum 1500 hours PIC.
    • Type Rating in at least one jet aircraft, Lear 45 preferred.
    • Have at least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135.
    • No accidents, incidents, violations or DUI/DWI.
    • Current First Class Medical certificate.
    • Strong knowledge of FAA Regulations (FAR’s) including flight operations under parts 135 training.
    • Previous operations management experience across multiple fleets and domiciles.
    • Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR 119.71(c).
    • High school diploma or GED required/ College degree is preferred.
    • Act as a voice of the company and promote the company business plan internally and externally when interfacing with front-line employees, vendors, OEMs, and regulatory bodies.
    • In coordination with the Director of Operations to develop the department budget and provides monthly variance reporting.
    • Must be able to complete training program, demonstrating proficiency with job requirements.

    National Jets is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the Executive Charter division at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The charter division has its large aircraft authorization from the FAA (10 passenger or more certification) and is ARG/US Platinum, ISBAO and Wyvern Registered meeting the highest safety standards. The charter flight division oversees all aspects of flight crews, flight dispatch support staff, including working closely with the Aircraft Management division. The ideal candidate is an experienced flight operations leader, with an equal passion for both aviation and employee mentorship, with the initiative, drive, and competence to make a significant contribution to the National Jets organization.

    The Director of Operations leads a growing team currently made up of approximately 13 employees dedicated to flight operations and manages all aspects of the aforementioned charter services.

    The position requires exceptional leadership, unmatched communication, and organizational skills to create a professional organization delivering the highest level of customer service to business, commercial, and general aviation customers.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Is responsible for the flight operations department to ensure legal, safe, and efficient operation.
    • Individual will have the experience and ratings as specified in 14 CFR 119.71.
    • May perform duties as a flight crewmember when properly qualified in the aircraft.
    • Serves as primary liaison in matters related to the FAA and develops relationships with the FAA Principal Inspectors, airport authority, local government, and the local community.
    • Establish a culture that promotes safety and quality control through daily observations, routine audits, monthly safety meetings, training, and documented safety procedures.
    • Responsible for development and enforcement of company policies and for ensuring compliance with all FAR’s, SOP’s, Company operations specifications, rules, and regulations governing those flight and maintenance activities.
    • Oversee the company Safety Management System and serve as chairman of the safety committee and as a member of the Emergency Response team.
    • Selects and supervises staff; prioritizes, assigns and evaluates the work of staff; provides training, and technical guidance.
    • Oversee aircraft and flight crewmembers schedules and establishes personnel duty hours.
    • Coordinates with the Director of Maintenance the scheduling of aircraft for maintenance and the return-to-service after maintenance.
    • The DO retains overall management responsibility for assuring that all company personnel performing a safety sensitive function pursuant to 14 CFR 135 Appendix I and J are appropriately tested for Drug and Alcohol abuse.
    • Assists with the addition to or deletion of aircraft from the Certificate and the record required by 14 CFR 135.63(a)(3)k.
    • Establishes a culture that promotes service towards others by creating an environment of increased employee engagement.
    • The Director of Operations will promote a positive team environment to better serve our guests and customers.

    Education and Experience:
    • Must hold an airline transport pilot certificate and either:
    • Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under part 121 or part 135, or
    • In the case of a person becoming Director of Operations for the first time ever, have at least 3 years experience within the past 6 years as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter.
    • In the case of a person with previous experience as a Director of Operations, have at least 3 years experience as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135.

    General Purpose

    The Chief Pilot is responsible for the standards of the operations department ensuring that each flight is conducted with the highest degree of safety and that flight crew members maintain a professional appearance and etiquette which reflects the high standards of the company.

    He or she will promote excellence, team work and accountability and make sure that each flight is conducted in accordance with company standards. The Chief Pilot will be detailed oriented and have excellent team building and communications skills.

    Essential Functions

    Strategic

    • Works with Sales/Flight Control and Maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use of company resources to maximize revenue potential
    • Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts while giving weekly and monthly updates on performance against
    • Identifies projects and programs for improvement and/or cost savings along with operational efficiencies
    • Identifies and executes on projects and programs to continually improve service levels

    Leadership

    • Creates and deploys the comprehensive fixes as required by the safety and hazard reporting system for the operations department

    • Oversees the development and currency of the aircraft company Standard Operating Procedures and Weight and Balance programs.
    • Audits department records on a regular basis to ensure continuing compliance

    • Preparing and distributing periodic reports, as required/requested.

  • Base Chief Pilot – (IAD) JetLinx

    Position Summary

    The Base Chief Pilot (BCP) is responsible for all flight aviation matters related to one or more aircraft accounts. The person should have additional crew member related duties and responsibilities. Crewmembers and maintenance personnel of the account(s) report to the Base Chief Pilot.

    During operations conducted under 14 CFR Part 135, crewmembers and maintenance personnel report to the Director of Operations, the Director of Maintenance or the Chief Pilot, as applicable, for compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

    The BCP reports to the System Chief Pilot on all matters involving assigned management contracts and personnel. During routine matters relating to Flight Operations, Maintenance Operations, Administration or Accounting, the Base Chief may communicate directly with the applicable JetLinx representative, as required.

    Base Chief Pilot Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervise assigned personnel to ensure compliance with the policies and procedures Federal Aviation Regulations, ICAO Rules of the Air, NTSB 830, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations
    • Monitor the personal appearance, dress code, and conduct of all assigned personnel to achieve the highest standards
    • Maintain a current read and initial file of all Jet Linx memorandums and make such files available to personnel with a periodic check of the initial sheets
    • Coordinate, schedule and review applicable crew and maintenance personnel training with the appropriate training contractor and advise the Director of Operations or Director of Maintenance, as required
    • Develop scheduling procedures with clients to promote reliable, efficient scheduling of aircraft
    • Approve and schedule through the flight scheduling department Personal Time Off (PTO) for all assigned personnel and maintain accurate records of vacation days earned and taken by each employee with copies to the Company Officer

    • Conduct meetings with all personnel to coordinate activities, identify problems, answer questions, pass information, and promote employee good will
    • Approve expense accounts for assigned personnel
    • In conjunction with the appropriate Company Officer, participate in the interview process of all assigned personnel to be employed. Employment requires approval of the a Company Officer
    • Immediately notify the responsible Company Officer of all significant events involving the operation, maintenance, or administration of assigned aircraft, or of matters relating to customer relations or personnel
    • Solicit the Company Officer’s input and/or approval for all operational, personnel, and administrative issues of a substantive nature
    • Notify the applicable Company Officer of anticipated needed pilot relief
    • Submit written reports, as required by the General Operations Manual
    • Revise all copies of manuals and publications assigned to the account(s). Note – Crewmembers are responsible for revising manuals assigned directly them
    • Coordinate crewmember training, as necessary
    • Ensure timely submission of training records, medicals, and other operations data to flight operations, as required by the General Operations Manual
    • Promote customer goodwill through high quality service and professional demeanor
