    Position Summary

    Marathon Petroleum Company is seeking a full time Chief Pilot in the Aviation Department located in San Antonio, Texas.

    Key Responsibilities of the Chief Pilot

    • Responsible for supervision of San Antonio based aircraft pilot group.
    • Coordinates with aircraft schedulers in planning efficient flight and crew assignment schedules for Marathon’s San Antonio based aircraft.
    • Assures that flight crew, aircraft, airport, and route assignments are operationally suitable and meet Company requirements.
    • Establishes who will be Pilot in Command (PIC) for every flight.
    • Works with the Aviation Manager and aircraft maintenance department to coordinate timing of aircraft inspections and repairs so that aircraft airworthiness and availability are maintained at high levels.
    • Coordinates with the Safety Advisor and Training Coordinator to assure pilot training is accomplished as planned, safety programs are implemented, operational, and effective, and that aircraft and facility security plans are implemented, operational, and effective.
    • Assures that the flight operations, international operations, MEL, aircraft SOPs, facility security and emergency response manuals are current, up to date, and that prescribed policies, procedures, and practices are followed by personnel.
    • Assures that division pilot and aircraft documentation, licenses, and required paperwork are current and up to date.
    • Coordinates with Maintenance Foreman to assure hangar facilities are properly maintained and provide a safe and secure working and business environment.
    • Act as Pilot-in-Command on operational assignments.
    • Ensure that flight operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
    • Actively participates in the Company safety management system by:
      • Actively identifying, reporting and mitigating hazards and safety-risk management deficiencies
      • Addressing safety-risk management deficiencies in an appropriate and timely manner.

    Education And Experience

    • Degree: Bachelors Preferred
    • Discipline: Any Field
    • Experience with SMS
    • Computer Proficiencies: Should be proficient in basic computer applications, including: Word, Excel, and using internet sources
    • Certifications: Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Multi-engine) Hold a Valid FAA First Class Physical
    • Work Experience: Minimum of 5000 hours flight experience and at least 1000 hours in multi-engine jet aircraft. Type rated PIC jet experience required. International experience required.

    The Global 5000 Chief Pilot is an integral part of the management team for XOJET Aviation air operator certificate and shares responsibility for the safety and compliance of the Company’s flight operations. The Chief Pilot is the senior flight officer and is responsible for the professional standards of the pilots and personnel under their authority. He/she has the responsibility and authority over all Human Resources issues and flight crew training

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Exercises Operational Control in all aspects of daily activities
    • Serves as a member of the Safety Team and promotes Safety Management System (SMS)
    • Allocates resources to sustain risk management activities
    • Identifies and evaluates safety hazards
    • Takes action to eliminate hazards or reducing risk to an acceptable level
    • Investigates accidents and serious incidents
    • Adopts appropriate best industry practices
    • Promotes aviation safety

    • Ensures adherence to the GOM, the Company issued Operations Specifications, the FSM and the GTM
    • Conducts personnel interviews, hiring and discharging of flight personnel as necessary
    • Ensures that all crews are enrolled in the company drug and alcohol program and fully comply with the Pilot Records Information Act
    • Ensures all pilot proficiency records, flight activity reports and FAA correspondence pertaining to operations is completed
    • Requests and designates nominees for Check Pilot authorization
    • Ensures that all crewmembers are properly trained in the procedures for mechanical discrepancies.
    • Interacts with the airport authority during both normal and emergency operations
    • Assumes the role of the Director of Operations in their absence

    Job Description

    The Director of Operations is responsible to report to the VP of Charter in growing a department that supports the safe and efficient execution of flight operations consistent with Silverhawk Aviation’s long-term vision. The position will support management and supervisory staff to develop operational solutions and act as a point of contact with the charter department and outside regulatory groups. Key responsibilities include performing and delivering various flight operations functions and programs including but not limited to: aircraft performance, record keeping, FAA relations, operational control, and talent acquisition.

    Other primary responsibilities include:

    • Ensure legal, safe, and efficient training and scheduling operations.
    • Update and enforce company policies and compliance with all FAA/DOT/TSA laws, rules, and regulations overseeing the flight activities.
    • Perform crewmember duties when qualified in the aircraft.
    • Final approval of all flight operations personnel.
    • Ensure all record keeping requirements and the proper monitoring and removal of those records.
    • Responsible, in conjunction with the Director of Maintenance and pilot-in-command, to ensure that the maintenance and inspection status of aircraft is current.
    • These duties may be delegated but the Director of Operations is still ultimately responsible.

    Qualifications

    • Must hold an airline transport certificate.
    • Either had three years of management experience at a part 121 or 135 company in the past six years; or
    • Has had at least three years of pilot-in-command experience at a part 121 or 135 company in the past six years.
    • Experience with any of the following aircraft preferred: King Air 90, Citation 500 series, Citation 560XL series, or Citation 680 series.

    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
