    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Meets the requirements and is responsible for the duties described in GOM-01 Flight Operation 2.2.10.
    • Coordinate recruiting efforts with the talent team at the NOC.
    • Advise on qualifications requirements for new positions.
    • Coordinate company, crew pairing, revenue management and aircraft owner requirements to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained for the crewing of aircraft at assigned bases.
    • Approves open position by initiating requisitions.
    • Provide final approval on offer letters for pilots.
    • Participate in pilot technical interviews and act as ambassadors at recruiting events.
    • Participate in pathway development.
    • Completes required documentations (PAF) for aircraft, position and pay changes for crewmembers
    • Participate in annual salary survey evaluations
    • Supervise Base Chief Pilot activity and assume BCP responsibilities when the BCP is unavailable or not assigned in the case of a new base.
    • Monitor flight crew activity and statistics. Advise on staffing needs and crew upgrades.
    • Supervises flight crew activity with local bases in coordination with the Base Chief Pilot.
    • Administer HR functions at the base level, document performance issues and Performance Improvement Plans as required.
    • Implement and execute performance plans and ASAP report corrections or remedial training.
    • Reviews and approves pilot qualifications and makes recommendations for upgrades and transitions
    • Conduct Base Chief Pilot performance reviews annually, assist Base Chief Pilots [Base Presidents] with pilot performance reviews and advise on compensation administration / justification.
    • Assists the Director of Operations & Director of Training ensuring pilot training and currency requirements are met, advising on aircrew training.
    • Manage PIC Line Checks and IOE training and advise crewing when new PIC’;s are ready for a line check.
    • Initiates PAFs and follows up on changes with training and crew records to ensure FOS qualifications and aircraft tail assignments are accurately updated.
    • Provide oversight to the crew day off process and requesting of PTO, and Short-Term Disability impacts
    • Advises crewing and crew records of pilot status changes that may affect crewmember and aircraft availability.
    • Maintain Check Pilot qualifications and currency.
    • Conduct line checks and observations of flight crews. Conduct evaluation flights or simulator observations when required.
    • Conduct weekly BCP meetings
    • Attend (in person or remote) monthly pilot meetings with assigned bases.
    • Drive employee engagement. Communicate regularly with crewmembers and advise on system improvements
    • Perform flight operations as assigned crewmember secondary to completion of other managerial responsibilities.
    • Office at NOC on a rotational schedule for Safety, HR, Recruiting, Training and Flight Operations support.
    • Act as Flight Operations point of contact for Flight Coordination and Crewing on Operational and Crew Related issues. Rotational Weekend coverage will be established.

    OBJECTIVE

    The purpose of the Chief Pilot (CP) position is to ensure that every flight operating under Talon Air’s Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate and Part 91 Aircraft Management program is continuously conducted safely, in compliance with all FAA and other government regulations, in conformance with operational specifications, and ultimately with the customer’s experience and high degree of satisfaction in mind, while upholding the values of an outstanding family business environment.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Chief Pilot is a critical leadership role for the Operations Department. The CP will bring in and maintain a strong track record in aviation that includes a focus on safety and successful management of the pilot workforce. The CP will provide day-to-day leadership and motivation for the pilot team to deliver excellent technical and operational performance needed to achieve overall department goals. This includes recruiting, training, career path management, and aircraft operating standards. Additionally, the CP will support Talon Air’s  exceptional customer service interest with clients while utilizing the services offered within the department.

    • Assist with the development, communication, and implementation of efficient operational procedures, policies, and effective growth strategies
    • Ensure that the department flight operations are properly staffed, organized, trained, and directed to fulfill its responsibilities
    • Drive department to achieve business goals and objectives
    • Ensure that the department and personnel have the adequate resources needed to perform their jobs successfully and efficiently
    • Coordinate with the scheduling team to ensure proper scheduling of aircraft and pilots, as well as tracking of flights
    • Assist in promoting a healthy culture for the department and the pilot team that benefits employee engagement, happiness, customer loyalty, safety, integrity, and overall excellence
    • Support the Director of Operations when conducting performance evaluations for the department that provides feedback to and from the employees, as well as a planning for corrective actions needed to be successful in their role
    • Support the Director of Operations while performing basic HR functions for the department including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new pilots and counseling or discharging of personnel
    • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the FAA
    • Prepare and maintain all pilot training, flight and duty, and proficiency records
    • Maintain all record keeping, including those that FAA and the company requires
    • Ensure aircraft documents, checklists, publications, and databases are continually up to date
    • Manage iPad EFB program and tablets including updates to documents
    • Oversee and schedule training resources and their execution, including aircraft training flights, simulator, enroute flight checks, ground school, and other learning courses used by department
    • Conduct basic indoctrination and emergency training, as well as other internal training to include customer service
    • Coordinate with the Director of Operations and Director of Maintenance on the timely communication and correction of mechanical repairs, as well as planned inspections or maintenance work on the fleet around scheduled flights
    • Perform flight duties as Captain on qualified aircraft based on scheduling needs and crew capacity
    • Complete Flight Safety training authorization IAW Talon’s training program
    • Provide ops on call after hours
    • Maintain the 12.5 security program
    • Assist in conformity process of new airplanes to Talon certificate
    • Complete all FANS/CPDLC compliance packages for our large cabin fleet in coordination with NEXGen and OAPS poral.
    • Ensure policies and procedures are followed and paperwork is submitted by crews in a timely and legible manner
    • Exercise authorization and compliance per CFR 119.69
    • Spend time approximately 50% flying and 50% office duties

    Requirements

    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot certificate (ATP)
    • Must have served for at least 3-years as a Chief Pilot for a Part 135 or Part 121 turbine multi-aircraft operator [or] have served at least 3 out of the last 6 years as PIC in a department that performed turbine multi-aircraft operations under Part 135 or Part 121
    • Extensive knowledge of FARs, ACs, SAFO/InFO,
    • Solid understanding of SOPs and industry best practices
    • 3+ years within general aviation and equivalent operational experience to include familiarity with aircraft maintenance scheduling, crew and staff management, and customer relations
    • Check airman, instructor, and safety manager experience preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree

    Job Description

    The Chief Pilot is responsible for the professional standards of the flight crews and for implementing and maintaining flight operations policies and procedures in coordination with the Director of Operations. This position will include operating ACI Jet aircraft as well as performing associated office duties. The Chief Pilot reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Flight Operations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Supervises and manages flight crews in coordination with the Director of Operations. 
    • Hires, terminates, and assigns crewmembers to duty positions. 
    • Supervises Dispatch personnel with respect to compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures. 
    • Coordinates with Dispatch personnel in assigning crew to trips. 
    • Supervises the Director of Training with respect to all training activities of flight crew, dispatchers and cabin crew. 
    • Assists the Director of Operations in formulating and implementing operations policies and procedures. 
    • Assists with adding and removing aircraft from ACI Jet’s certificate and ensuring that the aircraft are properly equipped for applicable operations.
    • Ensures proper documentation is onboard all aircraft.
    • Maintains aircraft and crew profiles with various entities.
    • Maintains aircraft weight and balance program.
    • Submits all requested reports regarding flight personnel to the Director of Operations.
    • Ensures that all flight crew personnel are qualified and current in accordance with ACI Jet’s Operations Specifications and the Applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
    • Ensures that all aerodromes and routes served by ACI Jet are operationally suitable and meet ACI Jet standards and requirements.
    • Disseminates information to all crewmembers pertaining to routes, airports, NOTAMS, NAVAIDS, company policies, and regulations
    • Has authority to act for the Certificate holder, including the signing of FAA correspondence and operations specifications.
    • Manages ACI Jet’s MEL program.
    • Maintains proficiency as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) – Complies with all FARs, Operations Specifications, Company Policies, and Company Procedures.
    • Must meet all required qualifications stated in CFR Part 119.71.
    • Provides exceptional courtesy, professionalism and customer service to ACI Jet charter clients and owners.
    • Remains knowledgeable relative to the applicable portions of the ACI Jet Air Carrier Operations Manual (ACOM).
    • Maintains a close, productive, and beneficial relationship with ACI Jet personnel.
    • Ensures the safety and quality of all assigned duties and responsibilities by actively and positively participating in ACI Jet’s SMS program.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

    • Total Time: Minimum 5000 hours total time.

    • Meet all required qualifications state in CFR Part 119.71
    • Current and valid Pilot’s Certificate with an English proficient endorsement.

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or have 3-5 years of professional aviation experience

    This position is a DOT Safety Sensitive position, which will require placement in a random drug test pool. The Chief Pilot may perform on-call duties and will require the candidate to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

    The Chief Corporate Pilot reports to the CEO and is responsible for providing professional, safe, efficient and economical piloting and associated services, including coordinating aircraft maintenance and flight scheduling on an as-needed basis throughout the year. This position will work closely with the Executive Administrator for coordination and scheduling of flights.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensures safe and timely completions of scheduled flights.
    • Plans and adjusts flight schedules, as needed, to ensure maximum safety and efficiency.
    • Studies and makes decisions regarding flight path in consideration of weather conditions before and during trips.
    • Reviews and calculates the aircraft weight and balance, fuel onboard and performance charts.
    • Orders and ensures adequate fuel for planned travel.
    • Completes an aircraft preflight inspection before each departure.
    • Ensures aircraft is clean and pre-stocked for flights, including purchasing supplies and refreshments.
    • Maintains aircraft logs and additional requested reporting.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate degree.
    • 5+ years previous corporate aviation experience.
    • Possess a FAA Commercial Pilot license.
    • 5,000+ hours total time in all aircraft.
    • 4,000 hours in Multi-Engine Aircraft.
    • 2,500 hours in Turbojet aircraft as PIC and 250 hours in the 525 Series Cessna aircraft. 
    • Completed simulator-based school in the CJ3 within the previous 12 months. 
    • Excellent knowledge of Federal Aviation regulations and safety procedures.
    • Current second-class medical certificate or higher.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to function under pressure.
    • No prior aircraft accidents or FAA violations or license suspensions without satisfactory explanation.
